School Caretaker

• Location: Dover
• Job Type: Full-time
• Salary: 100 a day

We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join our team at our school. This role is crucial for maintaining the school premises to a high standard, ensuring a safe, secure, and clean environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Day-to-day of the role:

1. Maintenance and Repairs:
   • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on the school building and grounds.
   • Identify and report major repair needs to the appropriate authorities.
   • Ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order.
2. Security:
   • Open and close the school premises, including setting and disabling alarms.
   • Conduct regular security checks to ensure the safety of the school.
   • Respond to emergency call-outs as required.
3. Cleaning and Hygiene:
   • Oversee the cleaning of the school, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
   • Manage waste disposal and recycling processes.
   • Ensure that cleaning supplies are well-stocked and properly stored.
4. Health and Safety:
   • Conduct regular health and safety inspections of the premises.
   • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
   • Maintain records of safety checks and incidents.
5. Grounds keeping:
   • Maintain the school grounds, including gardening, snow removal, and general upkeep.
   • Ensure playgrounds and outdoor areas are safe and well-maintained.
6. Support Services:
   • Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
   • Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as needed.
   • Provide general support to staff and students as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role.
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
