Job description

Fife Carers Centre is a well-regarded and well-established organisation that has supported thousands of families and unpaid carers throughout Fife since 1995. The vision of Fife Carers Centre is to ensure that unpaid carers throughout Fife are valued, recognised, and supported to have equal access to a good quality of life that is not prejudiced by their caring role.

We are now seeking a Family Carer Support Worker to join our team in an exciting new role funded by The Robertson Trust. Based at our centre in Kirkcaldy, the role will also involve regular travel across Fife as well as working from home and in community settings.

In this role, you will provide a sensitive, person-centred support service for unpaid and family carers. You will help carers maintain their physical and mental wellbeing by offering comprehensive, tailored information and support. This includes one-to-one support to enable carers to make informed choices about their own emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing.

Your work will involve:
  • Offer practical advice on balancing caring responsibilities, including time management and stress reduction techniques.
  • Supporting them to develop self-advocacy skills or advocating on their behalf where appropriate.
  • Assisting carers to identify and achieve their personal goals through the Carer Support Planning process.
  • Lead group sessions focusing on coping strategies, self-care, and peer support.

Support will be offered for a limited period, focused on empowering carers, building resilience, and helping them to stabilise their caring situations.

Why Work for Fife Carers Centre?
  • Competitive third-sector salary
  • 32 days' annual leave (including public holidays)
  • Additional 3–4 days off over Christmas & New Year
  • 6% employer pension contributions (matching employee contributions)
  • Paid carers leave (one week for employees who have caring responsibilities)
  • Additional 35 hours of annual leave after 5 years of service
  • Funded Disclosure Scotland

Work-Life Balance

  • Regular Monday–Friday working hours
  • Early finish on Fridays
  • Quarterly wellbeing lunches
  • Regular support, supervision, and annual appraisals
  • Continuous professional development opportunities

Our Commitment

  • Recognised as a Carer Positive Exemplary Employer
  • Equal and inclusive employer, welcoming applications from all sectors of the community
  • Living Wage Employer – ensuring all staff are paid the Scottish Living Wage

You will be based at the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, but may be expected to travel throughout Fife.

If you have experience in carer support, social care, or health services and want to be part of a team that values and recognises unpaid carers, we’d love to hear from you.
