About the role
As a Careers Manager, you will play a crucial role in equipping our students with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to thrive in their professional journeys. This position involves close collaboration with academic teams and industry partners to provide hands-on work experience and career development opportunities.
What You'll Do:
•Manage and oversee all Careers and Enterprise activities for film students.
•Provide expert advice for students' career development and extracurricular opportunities.
•Conduct 1-1 career planning sessions, including CV, portfolio, and digital profile development.
•Build and maintain relationships with recruitment agencies, casting agents, and production companies to secure work opportunities for graduates.
•Liaise with industry employers to share new creative projects and job opportunities with the Creative Futures team and students.
•Support students with professional development, ensuring high standards in CVs, show reels, portfolios, and application letters.
•Assist students and graduates in finding paid roles, performance work, and freelance opportunities, and prepare them for interviews and auditions.
•Create collaborative projects with Careers Managers from other faculties and campuses.
•Attend networking events to build and maintain industry relationships that provide work experience and entry-level jobs.
•Organise and deliver careers and networking events for students and graduates.
•Support students in curriculum-based and extracurricular work placements, projects, and business idea development.
•Showcase student and graduate talent through performances, screenings, and end-of-year shows.
•Promote enterprise and business start-up learning opportunities, including business planning, setup, tax requirements, and marketing.
•Collaborate with Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions to highlight Creative Futures activities in promotional materials.
•Ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion in all Creative Futures activities, taking proactive measures to increase access and participation.
•Manage data collection, monitoring, and reporting of Careers activities using appropriate metrics and systems.
What You'll Bring:
•A degree in a relevant subject or possess demonstrable equivalent experience.
•Have a successful track record of delivering student development programs and facilitating student placements in a Higher Education context.
•Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrable experience in stakeholder management.
•A good understanding of the principles and practice of skills and career development, with current knowledge of relevant trends, challenges, and opportunities.
•Experience with digital services and social media.
•Be adept at measuring the impact of career development campaigns and initiatives, using data to inform activities.
•Exhibit excellent communication skills, including public speaking.
•Have strong data analysis and reporting skills.
