Job description

About The Role

The Councils Building Control team deliver the statutory Building Control functions as well as dealing with the majority of the building regulations applications in the borough. The Building Control sector has experienced significant change following the Grenfell Enquiry and the introduction of the Building Safety Act. Bexley is well placed to meet these challenges with an ambitious service improvement plan which has ensured the successful registration of its building inspectors and continuing investment in staff and processes to further enhance professional standards and customer service.

In connection with this, the team requires two registered building inspectors to undertake restricted functions and restricted activities as appropriate to the level of their competency as well as other building control related activities as required. The Council will also offer the necessary supervision for activities outside current competency levels to ensure continuing professional development. You will help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners as well as offering excellent customer service.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing building control experience who is looking to develop their career in an ambitious and forward-thinking local authority. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team that deals with all aspects of the building control function.

Candidate Profile

If your application is successful, you will be appointed at the appropriate scale and starting salary, depending on your competency level, skills and experience. In this instance the Council is particularly interested in applicants that have achieved Class 2 (A to F) competency.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
