Main duties of the job
  1. The post holder carries out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse.
  2. To assist the nursing staff in the care of the patient and report any concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  3. To work as an integrated member of the ward team, assisting with nursing procedures according to agreed policies.
  4. To maintain the patient's dignity and self-respect at all times and achieve a high standard of care.
  5. To be aware of the Health and Safety aspects of staff and patients.
  6. To be flexible to work in different areas within the unit as required.
  7. Following appropriate instruction, organise own day-to-day work tasks and activities.
  8. Learn from the patient experience to constantly drive up standards. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered and will constantly promote patient safety, effective care, and a positive patient experience at each stage of the patient's journey.

Criteria
  • Care Certificate or required to undertake Care Certificate and complete within 12 weeks.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
  • Able to follow Trust policies and procedures.
  • Evidence of practical training or education in a care setting.
  • NVQ Qualification.
  • Experience in working in a care environment.
