We are excited to be seeking a Care Services Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our Executive Leadership Team with accountability for leading our Care Services. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO will play a pivotal role in delivering strategic leadership, achieving our vision and mission, and helping drive our organisation forwards.

CARE SERVICES - CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER | Up to £110,000 per annum

As the Care Services Chief Operating Officer, you will lead the transformation and improvements of clinical services whilst strengthening Dorothy House’s role in the wider Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wilshire (BSW) Integrated Care System. You will be responsible for ensuring the high quality, safe, effective and efficient delivery of all palliative and end of life care, and associated family services within current and future contracted and charitable funded provisions.

As a strong leader and manager you will be:

  • Supporting the delivery of our Vision and Mission by building capacity and capability within our staff whilst personally upholding the standards of behaviour and conduct expected by our charity.
  • Leading the operational performance of all component parts of the Patient and Family Services Directorate and Education and Research, ensuring compliance with professional standards / regulatory bodies, and delivering efficiency against financial targets.
  • Developing and implement long-term strategies to enhance patient-focused services at the hospice and in the community we serve.
  • Driving transformation and service developments to meet our strategic objectives.
  • Representing Dorothy House Hospice through critical partnering arrangements and leading collaboration initiatives with third parties, including provider partners and neighbouring charities.
  • Leading consultation and engagement on care service changes, internally and externally; negotiating service level agreement and contracts with authorities.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a Full Time position working 37.5 hours over 5 Days, Monday to Friday. On call arrangements via a shared Executive Team rota will be required.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an experienced senior leader that:

  • Holds an active professional registration (Nursing, AHP, or GMC).
  • Holds a professional clinical/medical qualification or equivalent.
  • Demonstrates board-level experience in strategic and/or operational leadership within a health and social care setting.
  • Shows proficiency in navigating a commissioning environment, including knowledge of health and social care funding streams and national drivers.
  • Exhibits a proven track record in performance management, delivering on Key Organisational Outcomes.
  • Possesses strong collaborative skills, able to work effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership in driving change, managing complexity, and fostering positive cultural change.
  • Has experience in budget management, business planning cycles and business case development to support the efficient use of commissioned and charitable funds.
  • Has a track record of driving efficiency and financial improvement in healthcare services.
  • Displays credible motivational leadership, capable of inspiring teams, setting direction and building and sustaining high-performing teams while maintaining personal resilience and motivation.
  • Demonstrates a patient-focused approach with adept problem-solving abilities.
  • Exhibits perseverance in achieving strategic organisational ambitions.
  • Hold a full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
