This innovative new service, piloting Leeds City Council’s new Community Health and Wellbeing model, gives Care Assistants the opportunity to provide a more flexible, personalised service.

Working in a small community team, you will provide regular and consistent care to your clients, working with families and communities to strengthen connections and improve wellbeing.

We are recruiting a minimum of 3 full-time or 6 part-time Care Assistants to provide care and support to people living in the LS12 and LS13 area of Leeds which includes:

  • Bramley
  • Bradley Hill
  • Tannery Yard
  • Lower Wortley
  • New Blackpool
  • Far Royds
  • Farnley
  • Silver Royd Hill

  • Shift Pay rather than pay per call; allowing you to go Above & Beyond when supporting clients to achieve outcomes, maintain independence and build community connections.

As a Care Assistant for Be Caring, your working hours will be aligned to our shift patterns, which for this role include late shift working and alternate weekends.

  • Early Shifts: 7:00am - 2:00pm
  • Late Shifts: 4:00pm - 10:00pm (finish time depends on public transport times)

As a Care Assistant for Be Caring, we will agree on your working pattern, setting a 2-week rota which includes:

  • Evenings as agreed within your working hours
  • Fully funded DBS
  • Paid induction training: 1 week classroom-based (Monday - Friday), 2 days shadowing and additional online modules
  • Training development: funded level 2 and other accredited courses
  • Holiday pay: annual leave accumulates with working hours and length of service
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): 24-hour helpline, advice and guidance for yourself and dependents
  • Union membership (optional): through our partnership with the GMB

Job Description

You may already have many of the skills needed to make an excellent Care Assistant for Be Caring; patience, empathy and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively are all essential qualities for this role.

As a Care Assistant working in Leeds, you will:

  • Provide personal care that protects people's dignity
  • Promote independence using enabling approaches
  • Support people to meet their outcomes, involving families and professionals
  • Connect people to their communities by accessing local support and services
  • Deliver personalised care through individual choice and control
  • Be a strong and effective communicator, documenting, reporting, and sharing information with the right people at the right time

Induction Training

As a Care Assistant for Be Caring, you will be provided with comprehensive induction training on:

  • Be Caring values, going Above & Beyond to meet personal outcomes
  • Dignity and respect, safeguarding and equality and diversity
  • Confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Fluids and nutrition and safe administration of medication
  • Moving and positioning, basic life support, and pressure sores (React to Red)
  • Infection prevention and control, health and safety
  • Learning Disabilities (Oliver McGowan Tier 1), mental health and capacity
