Care Assistant Job Description
Location: Streatham, London
Reports to: Senior Carer/Nurse
Job Overview:
To provide care in accordance with best practice and legislative requirements, reflecting policies and procedures and agreed standards under the direction of the Senior Carer/Nurse. Support and enable Residents to maintain skills and personal interests while delivering person-centred care unique to each individual. Maintain skills at a current level and undertake training and development as required.
Working Hours:
Days over a 7-day period, with varying shift patterns as agreed with the manager.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Care Assistant - Role Specific Duties:
Ensure Residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes enhance their wellbeing. Contribute to the efficient running of the service. Support Residents to maintain their relationships with the local community. Ensure Care Plans are followed. Inform the Senior Carer/Nurse of any changes in the needs of Residents. Promote and safeguard the welfare of individuals supported. Work alongside the therapy team to assist with splinting and other orthopedic procedures. Undertake baseline observations such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rates, and record findings. Escalate anomalies in residents' care to the nurse in charge. - Care Assistant - Working with Others:
Develop effective working relationships with other employees. Cooperate with members of the multi-disciplinary teams to maximize opportunities for Residents. Maintain relationships with family and friends if desired by the Resident. - Care Assistant - Leading by Example:
Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth. Be a role model for other carers and an ambassador for the service. Maintain professionalism at all times. - Care Assistant - Personal Responsibilities:
Knowledge of and work within the Fundamental Standards. Understand the regulatory framework governing the service, including CQC requirements. Commit to achieving relevant qualifications. Attend statutory and other training as directed. Follow all relevant policies and procedures.
Specific Requirements:
- Good English - Written and verbal.
- RQF qualifications in Social Care.
- Proficient written skills.
- Leadership skills to induct and orientate new employees.
- Ability to support Residents with daily tasks.
- Effective communication skills with Residents and colleagues.
- Problem-solving skills to address situations quickly.
- Experience in similar environments and roles.
