A vacancy has arisen at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton at our Royal Derby Hospital in Specialist Medicine Business unit 2 for a Support Medical Secretary.
We are looking for multiple people to join our clinical administration medical secretary team within Cardiology, to work a total of 42 hrs 45mins per week. You will be working alongside & supporting other medical secretaries within the business unit in respect of their NHS work delivering high quality patient care, so confidentiality and a willingness to learn is essential.
Previous support administration experience, knowledge of the 18 week referral to treatment policy and standards would be advantageous. Responsibilities:
- Provide effective communication across all boundaries to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive administration service.
- Ensure all enquiries are effectively managed and successfully resolved within prompt timescales.
- Maintain awareness and understanding of sensitive information, ensuring strict confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure timely delivery of regular and ad hoc data/information requested by the management team, producing reports as required.
- Utilize IT applications to monitor, prepare and validate databases as appropriate.
- Actively participate in regular team and departmental meetings.
- Answer telephone queries from patients.
- Type and dispatch clinical correspondence relating to NHS medical patients within the quality standards and time limits as specified.
- Effectively liaise with relevant wards and departments within the hospital and with patients and other health care providers associated with the Consultant and his/her team to ensure prompt and effective communication.
- Understand the 18-week RTT process and have knowledge of the Trust Patient Access Policy, agreeing to adhere to these policies according to National Trust Guidelines - Training provided.
- Provide support and cover to other areas of the Business Unit/Division and undertake other duties as requested.
