Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and analytical Carbon Analyst to join our Research and Development Team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis to support the development of carbon market strategies and initiatives, with a focus on compliance markets. You will work closely with the Trading Desk and Product teams to generate insights that drive growth in the carbon markets. Reporting to the Head of Research and Development, this role requires a strong understanding of carbon markets, data analysis skills, and effective communication abilities to collaborate with both internal teams and external clients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of carbon markets (with a focus on compliance markets), including carbon pricing trends, emissions data, and policy & regulatory developments.
- Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track carbon market performance, providing insights to stakeholders across the Research and Development, Trading Desk, and Product teams.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify opportunities within the carbon market and contribute to the development of strategies that support market growth and sustainability.
- Provide analytical support for carbon offset and trading projects, including data modelling, scenario analysis, and forecasting.
- Prepare market research reports, presentations, and client-facing materials that highlight key trends and opportunities in the carbon market.
- Work closely with the Trading Desk to monitor market conditions and provide data-driven insights that inform trading strategies.
- Liaise with the Product team to ensure that research and insights contribute to the development and enhancement of products related to carbon markets.
- Stay informed on policy and regulatory changes affecting carbon markets and assess their potential impact on the business and clients.

Qualifications And Skills
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience in carbon markets, environmental markets, or a related field. Knowledge of the EU and/or UK Emissions Trading System is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, market research, and carbon pricing modelling.
- Proven ability to write clear and concise reports and develop presentations that communicate complex information to stakeholders.
- A degree in relevant fields such as Environmental Sciences, Environmental Economics, Climate Policy, or similar disciplines. Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent work experience are advantageous.
- Familiarity with carbon market mechanisms, including carbon credits, offsets, and emissions trading systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience in data analysis and visualisation tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
