Car Mechanic/ MOT Tester needed

Our client, a Vehicle Repairs & Services private garage, is seeking a Car Mechanic/ MOT Tester to join their team. Master Technician without MOT licence will be considered.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, as well as performing MOT (Ministry of Transport) tests in accordance with legal and safety requirements.

Role: Car Mechanic/MOT Tester

Hours:

Mon to Thu 8:30am to 5pm, Fri 8:30am to 4pm; Every other Saturday half day from 8:30am till 12:30pm

Key responsibilities:

1. Conduct MOT tests on vehicles in compliance with current legislation.
2. Ensure vehicles meet all necessary safety standards, including emissions, braking, suspension, and lights.
3. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and other vehicle-related issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
4. Perform vehicle repairs, maintenance, and servicing, including engine repairs, exhaust systems, brakes, suspension, steering, and more.
5. Carry out routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
6. Inspect and replace parts when necessary to ensure the vehicle's safe and efficient operation.

Requirements:

1. Be ideal to have MOT licence class 4&7; however, the company would be willing to pay for the licence.
2. Proven experience as a car mechanic, including experience in vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
3. Knowledge of automotive systems and technologies.
4. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Excellent communication and customer service skills.
7. Full, valid UK driving license (required).
8. NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (preferred).
9. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
