Your new role

As a Capital Xtra Content Editor at Global, you will be a talented journalist with proven success in digital to join the UK’s biggest Hip-Hop and R&B brand, Capital XTRA. The role will involve the development and creation of content for Capital XTRA’s various interactive platforms including website and app - delivering artist, radio show, presenter and music news content. We are looking for somebody who is as obsessed with building a great destination for Hip-Hop and R&B culture as we are.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with broadcast teams to define and produce innovative on-air/online ideas that will both increase on-air listening and online traffic.
• Deliver content that is topical, timely, enjoyable and engaging with an understanding of how to engage audiences both on social and search.
• Uphold editorial standards and ensure tone is consistent across platforms.
• Deliver engaging coverage of Capital XTRA’s live events and special features, such as Capital XTRA Comedy Club and Capital XTRA Brunch ‘n’ Beats and Homegrown Track of the Year.
• Source the biggest news in the XTRA world and write articles daily for our website.
• Work alongside the XTRA digital team to come up with engaging digital features for our socials.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months:

• The role will involve the development and creation of content for Capital XTRA’s various interactive platforms including website and app, Global Player - delivering artist, radio show, presenter and music news content.
• We are looking for somebody who is as obsessed with building a great destination for Hip-Hop and R&B culture as we are.
• 2024 has been a record-breaking year for the brand with huge increases in traffic, video views and reach across all platforms.
• Heading into 2025, there are even more exciting projects in store! Come and join our dynamic digital team as we take the brand even further.

What You’ll Need

• A compelling and self-starting with a track record in great digital content.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Relevant experience of Capital XTRA, or great knowledge of the brand.
• An obsessive attention to detail with an ability to use data to find opportunities for digital growth.
• Ability to multi-task and manage/maximise project and opportunities in a mixed media environment.
• Ability to drive website traffic from search using SEO skills.
• Editorial experience, preferably within a fast-moving entertainment business.
• Ability to be on the ball with breaking news and getting fresher angles on big news stories in the XTRA world.
