Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of people affected by cancer?

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary leader to join our cancer wellbeing and information centres team to provide consistent and strong leadership.

This role is a job share with the current person in post and requires excellent organisational and communication skills, flexibility and enthusiasm. This is a unique opportunity to have a positive impact on the development of our wellbeing services by overseeing the operational, financial and practical aspects of the service while supporting continuous improvements in patient care.

Cancer can affect a person’s life in so many ways, physically, emotionally and financially. Everyone has individual needs and priorities, our specially trained team of volunteers and staff are able to help make the experience of cancer more manageable, helping anyone affected by cancer to navigate their journey with help and support, improving their quality of life along the way.

We are looking for an inspirational Manager who with their job share can work collaboratively across the system and lead the team in the delivery of our cancer wellbeing centre services at both our Ipswich and Colchester Hospital sites.

We strongly recommend a visit to the centres to meet the team and appreciate the breadth and diversity of the services on offer.

This post is for 15hrs per week. There may be flexibility around the hours and working pattern.

The person we are looking for will have experience of working with people affected by cancer, and be able to support them empathetically and holistically, whilst leading a team of staff and volunteers in doing the same. With experience of working with service users and service partners to develop personalised wellbeing offers that meet people’s needs.

Purpose Of The Role

  • Provision of specialist, effective and well evidenced information and support services across both centres and wider programme of cancer wellbeing offers.
  • Direct line-management responsibility for the cancer wellbeing centre & information centre staff across both sites, and the recruitment and induction of new post holders when the need arises.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, induction and ongoing support of all volunteers supporting the cancer wellbeing and information centres.
  • Lead the development and continued growth of effective Cancer Wellbeing & Information Centre services in line with national and local recommendations, service user feedback and needs, including business planning, business case writing, due diligence processes, contractual and partnership agreement processes.
  • Ensure equity of access to cancer wellbeing & information support across ESNEFT and for the support and information services development on both sites.
  • Overall governance and safe delivery of services delivered by the cancer wellbeing & information centres and wider programme of cancer wellbeing offers.
