Job description

CAMHS Consultant: Maudsley Centre-Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

This is a Full-time replacement Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (MCCAED). This post is primarily based in the Intensive Treatment Programme (ITP) with two sessions dedicated to the Eating Disorder (ED) outpatient team.

The Intensive Treatment Programme (ITP)

ITP is a specialist day hospital programme designed for young people who are already undergoing treatment for an eating disorder but require additional support. There are usually 8-12 young people attending the programme each day. The programme operates five days a week and offers flexible attendance, allowing participants to attend anywhere from half a day to five days per week depending on their individual needs. Following the UK school year, most young people attend for around 14 weeks, with breaks during half-term and a reduced program in the summer.

Main duties of the job

The job description is subject to college approval.

Have accountability for the delivery of high quality and safe care, with the Clinical Director, Lead Clinician N&S CAMHS and Joint Heads MCCAED.

Ensure that high standards and appropriate protocols are in place and rigorously followed for all aspects of the service.

Undertake detailed and complex assessments aligned to a pre-agreed approach but using a high degree of clinical expertise.

Lead the multi-disciplinary team alongside the ITP team manager and influence others to meet service commitments and needs of children, young people, and families.

Support and advise colleagues regarding clinical assessment and care of children and young people, whilst being clear about others' personal clinical professional accountability.

Please refer to the job description for further details.
