CAD Engineer

Job Title: CAD Engineers x 2 (One senior and One Intermediate)

Location: Leeds, Yorkshire, UK

Overview:

My client is a leading tunneling subcontractor in the UK, known for providing high-quality, value-engineered solutions to complex tunneling and civil engineering challenges. Our expertise spans traditional tunneling techniques and innovative construction methods on large-scale projects. We are looking for an intermediate CAD Engineer to join our Tunneling and Structures Team.

Job Purpose:

The CAD Engineer will deliver and manage all civil engineering-related CAD design, utilizing the latest Autodesk software in 3D and 2D graphics to BIM Level 2 standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Produce engineering drawings from rough sketches and as-built details.
2. Create construction details, including structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, and temporary works.
3. Work independently or as part of a project team to produce and maintain 3D CAD models within a common data environment.
4. Ensure CAD models comply with internal QA systems, project/client standards, and industry BIM procedures.
5. Identify and resolve spatial constraint and arrangement issues.
6. Assist senior engineering staff and the CAD Manager to ensure quality standards are met.
7. Promote collaboration within the engineering team and take responsibility for deliverables.

Essential Skills and Experience:

1. Degree or HND (or equivalent) related to the built environment.
2. Fluent in English, with a minimum of GCSE or equivalent.
3. At least 3 years of experience with Autodesk products, including AutoCAD 2D & 3D and Civils 3D.
4. Knowledge of steelwork and RC detailing.
5. Familiarity with 3D modeling packages such as Revit, Rhino, and 3ds Max, as well as AECO-sim, MicroStation, and ProjectWise.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
8. Understanding of health and safety regulations and design risk assessment processes.
