Job description

CAD Design Engineer
West Yorkshire
Salary up to £35k

Calibre Search are working alongside a growing regional Civil Engineering and Utilities services company operating throughout the north of England. With Design & Build capabilities, they work with a variety of clients ranging from Local Authorities, Private Developers to Water Companies and due to succession planning, they are looking to add to their West Yorkshire office.

They are looking for a Design CAD Engineer with a preferred background in Civil Engineering to join their integrated team and complement the design of infra and non-infra projects on their Yorkshire Water Framework from outline design through to detailed design, construction and commissioning support.

Using 2D CAD, you will fulfil the Design Engineer's tasks for drawing activities associated with civil and drainage design, in line with client specifications and design standards. Maintaining ongoing communication with relevant Team Leaders / Senior Managers and clients when required to ensure effective communications on matters relevant to the projects, you will collaborate with a wide range of discipline inputs; monitoring and protecting our client relationships; assisting with planning and programming; commercial management and presenting projects for internal & external review.

Your design duties will include preparation of design solutions at various stages of a project; preparation of drawings, reports, specifications, calculations and estimates. You will attend Engineering Expos and implement the very latest technologies in the Industry, staying up to date with developments. Working in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design, you will contribute to the resolution of technical issues on projects and be responsible for surveying and data evaluation plus development of PCI from Client.

Possessing suitable civil design experience, including drainage, gained through working on infrastructure projects within the UK water sector, you will have knowledge of the UK Water Industry and Sewer Sector Guidance standards for drainage design and expertise in software design methods such as MicroDrainage, AutoCAD and Civils3D (a knowledge of integration with BIM models would be desirable). A knowledge of industry-wide CDE platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud and BIM360 would be an advantage as well as knowledge of water industry standards and WIMES/CIWEM.

You will be a qualified CAD Engineer and ideally have knowledge of Civils and utilities design as well as fundamental hydraulic design principles - MEICA knowledge would also be advantageous but not essential.

A full driver's license is required for this role.
