CAD Administration Designer

Location: Warrington

As a CAD Administration Designer, your activities will include the following:

  • Modifying, customising, and configuring AutoCAD Plant 3D setup in accordance with company and customer standards and requirements
  • Creating and maintaining piping specifications and catalogues and customising report files specific to Plant 3D projects
  • Oversee technical aspects of the implementation and support of Autodesk and other design applications
  • Provide technical support to project designers and engineers regarding CAD applications
  • Participate in the development and review of standard practices and procedures utilised in design development
  • Provide hands-on admin support for CAD and PDM systems (e.g. Autodesk Vault), including user creation and access management
  • Liaise with 3rd party vendors to resolve CAD & PDM issues
  • Coordinate with IT to ensure optimal CAD system performance
  • Support the continuous improvement of CAD processes and workflows
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to CAD tools
  • Provide technical hands-on support and mentoring in the proper use of 3D CAD
  • Manage Templates, reports, customisations and preferences
  • Produce and develop design deliverables including: 3D models, GA drawings, Piping Isometrics (Fabrication & Destruction), and relevant schedules
  • Support the Lead Designer in the production of the Mechanical and Piping (M&P) designs within single discipline, multi-discipline engineering, EPCM or EPC projects
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews supporting the Lead Designer & Engineering Project Manager
  • Assist the Engineers with the selection of mechanical equipment including but not limited to valves, strainers, pumps and piping

Your profile

  • Demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) in a CAD Administration role using Plant 3D and experienced as a designer involved with plant layout and piping systems
  • Experience in developing pipe support catalogue within Plant 3D
  • Experience in design and EPC projects within either the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals or Food sectors
  • Extensive knowledge of Plant 3D and capable of carrying designs using the software without supervision
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical and piping engineering and design, whilst also having an understanding of the other disciplines (Instrumentation, Civil / Structural, and Process)
  • General knowledge and ability to understand piping material, codes etc.
  • Strong understanding of CAD data management practices
  • Experienced with the mechanical and piping design packages including AutoCAD 3D, Navisworks and all Microsoft office packages
  • Sound understanding of the current British / European Standards as well as international standards such as ASME
  • Laser scanning and post processing of data (desirable)
  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering (Desirable)
  • Plant 3D specific training and certifications (Desirable)
