The location of the role is Paddington, London (hybrid working).
The pay rate on offer is £15 per hour.
The duration of the contract is 6 months initially.
The client is a large, multinational high-street retailer.
Job Purpose
To put the customer requirements at the centre of the product offer to develop and deliver a commercial and profitable range that maximises sales opportunity
Key accountabilities of the role
- Manage the manual excel product set up spreadsheet process
- Work with the BPS offshore team to ensure all product are set up in a correct and timely manner adhering to the brand CP, with support from relevant Assistant Buyer
- To liaise with .com team and chase imagery from necessary teams, with support from relevant Assistant Buyer
- Understand Good, Better, Best attributes and ensure that correct pricing is entered into our systems (we will need to start capturing this – not had the resource to do so far)
- Help to prepare Sign Off Packs and Trading Packs for International Selling Event. (when we expand to international in the future)
- Manage and co-ordinate all sample requirements for all events, requests, and sign offs.
- Ensure accuracy of Systems and Labels in readiness for International Selling Events (where appropriate).
- Be able to build relationships with key stakeholders e.g., brands, .com team
- Set up any additional lines/requests and progress quickly to ensure on time launch for the relevant season.
- Use appropriate IT systems and software packages required to drive delivery of your elements of the critical path.
- Demonstrate a passion for product by staying up to date with competitors and giving structured feedback to the team
- Own and manage the critical path meetings, raising problems with the team and proposing solutions. (this would be the BPS system and product templates for us)
- Contribute throughout the selection process and in delivery of new ranges.
Key skills and experience
- Either Buying experience with a major retailer, or alternatively experience within a retail head office environment
- Passion for products and desire to learn about the brand and customer
- Highly organised with attention to detail when performing tasks, ability to anticipate and manage problems, with an ability to prioritise and escalate where necessary
- Systems experience or a clear demonstration of the ability to learn to use systems quickly
- Good communication skills; communicating clearly using phone, email, VC etc.
- Knowledge of, or strong desire to learn about the end to end Buying process to take responsibility for Critical Path Management
