Meech International has an exciting opportunity available for a Buyer to join our growing team based in Witney, Oxfordshire. What We Do.

We have four separate divisions: Static Control, Web Cleaning, Compressed Air Technology and Surface Cleaning Systems. Each division is interconnected through applications in various sectors. We work in a large number of diverse industries all over the world, including pharmaceutical, food & beverage and the emerging EV Battery market, where we are at the forefront of development in specialist contamination removal and static control.

Key Objectives of Role - Buyer - Mechanical

  • To ensure availability of all production items and provide support to the R&D function
  • To become a key member of the supply team, supporting the tactical and operational objectives.

Summary Of Main Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of Meech products
  • Taking responsibility for sourcing, purchasing and the delivery of materials and components
  • Involvement in the weekly running of the MPS/MRP from Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
  • Placing of Purchase Orders - maintaining accurate inbound delivery dates on Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV) and liaising with Production, Customer Service and Goods-in warehouse
  • Control of free issue items to suppliers for subcontract
  • Ensuring consistent regulatory compliance, Quality, OTIF and cost performance
  • Ensuring the MRP/ERP system reflects current trading conditions such as lead-time, ordering quantities and price (minimum order quantities/minimum stock holding)

Person Specification & Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a buyer within a manufacturing environment; preferably with knowledge of subcontract and direct procurement of fabricated metal, bespoke manufactured parts, including metal and plastic machined components
  • Demonstratable experience of delivering cost savings
  • Excellent understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, Risk management, Environmental Social Governance, Supplier Relationship Management & Negotiation
  • Ability to understand and extract technical information from drawings and specifications
  • Numerate, analytical and commercially aware
  • A competent user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables etc)
  • Strong MRP/ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics Navision (NAV)
  • Excellent organisational skills, high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and forward thinking.
  • A CIPS qualification would be preferable but not essential.
