Brief Description

As a Buyer you have the responsibility for managing and evaluating the supply chain, reporting into Head of Purchasing.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. To develop a full understanding of the relationship between the 4 divisions of the Tricel Group: Water, Construction, Environmental and Distribution to maximise buying efficiency.
  2. To understand, implement and develop the purchasing strategy in Tricel.
  3. Source, select and approve new suppliers of raw materials, products, transport, and services that will enhance the performance of Tricel. Approvals to be conducted in compliance with accredited quality, legal, health and safety standards. Establish commercial agreements between company and suppliers.
  4. Ongoing review, evaluation and monitoring of the existing supply chain, suppliers, parts, products, and services to ensure continuous high performance and compliance to standards.
  5. Establish and drive lean and continuous improvement projects with suppliers and service providers to ensure reduction in costs and stabilization of the supply chain.
  6. Secure target cost down through effective negotiation, benchmarking, and cost improvement ideas.
  7. Reduce inventory levels, lead-times, review lot sizes and delivery frequencies from Local, European, and Worldwide suppliers.
  8. Regularly monitor and review ABC classification and product classification of inventory.
  9. Regularly monitor and cleanse the data on Tricel’s ERP system to ensure the data is accurate and up to date.
  10. Address quality issues and promptly resolve problems that arise with external and internal suppliers.
  11. Support introduction of new products (NPI) - liaise closely with Engineering, Quality, and production to launch new projects/products as per agreed milestones.
  12. Support warehouse activities – focus on space saving, smart deliveries (on time, correct paperwork, easy to handle, safety).
  13. Support Finance function – invoice payment/reports.
  14. Establish and maintain purchasing reports and KPI’s.
  15. Report performance results to Senior Management for review, ensuring purchasing KPI’s are achieved.
  16. Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Management team.

Candidate Profile

  1. Experience within a buyer role for a minimum of 5 years.
  2. People Management Skills.
  3. Project Management Skills.
  4. Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Good knowledge of excel.
  6. Good knowledge of the specific raw materials – volumes, destination, purpose.
  7. Good knowledge of the specific end products.
  8. Some knowledge of the specific production processes: batching, postponement etc.
  9. Ability to work in pressurised environment.
  10. Ability to react fast to changing circumstances.
  11. ERP experience.
  12. Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  13. Previous experience of working to meet quality standards and legal compliance requirements.
  14. Knowledge of the principles of modern supply chains (Post graduation diploma or cert).
