The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing across direct and indirect spend categories, but with a focus on the purchasing of raw materials and management of a diverse supplier base. The role will be office based, reporting to a purchasing manager and is an ideal position for those with a background in purchasing and looking for their next long-term career move.

The job you will do:

1. Daily management of raw material and packaging purchase orders to meet customer and manufacturing requirements.
2. Analysis and interpretation of MRP information to react to changes in demand.
3. Daily communication with production staff and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of critical raw materials.
4. Communication of critical supplier-related information to customer-facing staff.
5. Updating purchasing and supplier information records.
6. Analysis of vendor performance, including tracking of non-conforming material deliveries.
7. Working closely with Commercial Divisional Heads and R&D.
8. Ensuring quality supply and avoiding supplier dependence.
9. Monitoring product sage Monthly/Yearly.
10. New Supplier Approvals.
11. Price List maintenance.
12. Undertake project-based work for specific business strategies & initiatives.

About you:

1. Ideally you will be CIPS qualified, but this is not essential.
2. You will be from a manufacturing or engineering background.
3. Experience with direct and indirect purchasing.
4. Expert skills on MRP are essential.
5. Experience of purchasing raw materials would be advantageous.
6. Willingness to learn and develop.
7. Excellent communication skills are essential.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
