Peterlee

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are delighted to be exclusively working with an organisation in Peterlee on the appointment of a Buyer to join their team on a permanent basis. Working in a supportive and friendly procurement team of 7 people, this role will manage inbound supply, supplier relationships and stock management.

Working hours are Monday to Friday and can be flexible depending on preference. They offer hybrid working of 1 day per week working from home and there is a bonus scheme included post-probationary period.

CIPS funding is on offer as part of the package and holidays are 20 days plus bank holidays.

The Role:

  1. Manage the purchase and replenishment of stock
  2. Manage the direct supply chain of the business maximising incentives, structuring deliveries, and minimising the cost of stock movements.
  3. Understand depot stock requirements, rotations, and supply patterns.
  4. Forecasting for seasonality spikes
  5. Key point of contact for major accounts from a stock perspective
  6. Negotiate with all departments and depots to achieve effective stock movements throughout the business
  7. Constant liaising with sales, warehouse and finance departments regarding delivery progress, issues, and requirements
  8. Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  9. Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  10. Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory, with a high degree of forecasting ahead of seasonal variations
  11. Ensuring that all listed products meet the required quality standards and specifications requirements
  12. Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
  13. To enhance, progress and leverage supplier relationships
  14. Deliver credible, insight led & actionable recommendations to support the growth of the business
  15. Report KPI's to the business at regular intervals
  16. Manage the direct supply chain of the business maximising incentives, structuring deliveries, and minimising the cost of stock movements
  17. Key point of contact for key customer accounts

The Person:

  1. Ideally 3 years' plus in a purchasing role
  2. A 'can do' attitude and positive approach
  3. Dynamic and creative with analytical integrity
  4. Forward thinking and proactive
  5. Key eye for detail for reporting and analysis
  6. Logical thinker with excellent organisational skills
  7. Ability to lead by example
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
  9. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  10. Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
