Job Description

Since the birth of Rock ‘n’ Roll in the late 1950s, British street culture has been influencing fashion and music worldwide. Pretty Green has an authenticity born from a deep understanding of that culture and the things that make it relevant today.

The Buyer will be responsible for developing new products, managing supplier relationships, devising & implementing product plans, formulating pricing and range management across all product categories.

Product Merchandising

  1. Alongside the Merchandiser and Designer, develop seasonal product strategies which target margin enhancement and revenue growth.
  2. Regularly review trading performance and KPIs to identify opportunities and risks.
  3. Work collaboratively with all departments, influencing on key decisions to deliver the commercial direction of the Company.
  4. Produce and report on weekly trade.

Critical Path Management

  1. Set up and manage the seasonal Critical Path in conjunction with cross departmental needs.
  2. Engage key partners with the Critical Path to enable suppliers to plan accordingly.

Sourcing

  1. Key point of contact for all suppliers, developing strong relationships and communication channels.
  2. Source new suppliers as required to meet company needs.
  3. Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers.
  4. Monitor the existing factory audit program to ensure suppliers meet all regulations and compliance.

Product Development

  1. Alongside the Designer, develop the creative brand process for new seasonal concepts, implementing with suppliers in line with the critical path.
  2. Allocate designs in line with supplier capabilities, margin targets and trading potential.
  3. Manage the sampling process, ensuring a commercial focus with low over-development.
  4. Alongside the Designer and Garment Tech, attend garment fit sessions to ensure commerciality of the collections.

Production

  1. Lead the Production process and proactively problem-solve price, quality, or delivery issues with suppliers.
  2. Negotiate and agree final prices in line with company margin targets.
  3. Accurately maintain seasonal line detail and company systems to report stock, delivery and margin information as required.
  4. Assess and resolve issues relating to quality control with Technical Product Developer.
  5. Proactively problem solve invoice concerns to ensure on time payment to suppliers.
  6. Work with stakeholders on commercial planning, specifically focusing on tactical e-commerce activations.

Requirements:

  1. Strong communication and Excel skills.
  2. Experience in commercial reporting, trading and collaborative working.
  3. Experience in Far East and European clothing manufacture, including; negotiating, order placement and factory selection.
  4. Experience in critical path management.
  5. Experience in range building and price architecture strategy.
