Job description

BUYER | HIGH WYCOMBE

We’re looking for a fabulous Buyer to join the team. The purpose of this role is to establish and maintain strong working relationships with our suppliers, working collaboratively to create competitive marketing plans to maximise sales and to deliver on key business KPIs.

What You’ll Do
  • Be responsible for managing the day to day relationship with our direct suppliers.
  • Take responsibility for negotiating and agreeing a trade, marketing and promotional plan that sets the Perfume Shop apart from its competitors and meets The Perfume Shop’s customer needs.
  • Take ownership for delivering key sales, profitability and market share KPI’s.
  • Maximise the sales of your fragrance houses in line with the business KPIs.
  • Create a strong 360 commercial plan that is truly Online and Offline (O+O), encompassing promotional strategy, creative new launches, experiential in store events and digital activations across e-comm, CRM and social platforms.
  • Negotiate improved terms and retros with your suppliers annually.
  • Continue to build a product range that gives The Perfume Shop a point of difference to remain one step ahead of the competition and to seize opportunities first.
  • Take joint responsibility with the Merchandiser to ensure stock remains healthy and all KPIs are met, including but not limited, appropriate stock cover to maximise sales, slow-moving stock, on shelf availability (O+O) and promotional volumes.
  • Supporting the Buying Assistants where required, assisting in their development through coaching, mentoring and training them, whilst driving engagement within the team.
What You’ll Bring
  • Have a passion for retail underpinned with strong commercial acumen.
  • Enjoy working cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Thrive when working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrable planning, organisational and prioritising skills, with the ability to schedule your workload to support the business objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to convey clear information.
  • Ability to build relationships to support team members, share resources and knowledge and collaborate with others to achieve goals.
  • Experience of building a digital support strategy across eCommerce, CRM and Social platforms.
  • Proven performance of achieving key KPI’s including sales and margin growth.
