Job description

A quick look at the role.

The Buyer supports with strategic procurement projects whilst having responsibility end to end for the delivery and management of individual service supply chain for the disposal of waste. You will ensure that the function is professionally represented both internally and externally and strive to deliver a best-in-class service.

Your core responsibilities

  1. Delivery of exciting procurement projects that have not been done before.
  2. Work collaboratively with stakeholders both within the department and the business as a whole to determine the needs of the business and develop strategies to deliver these.
  3. Meet with suppliers and other external stakeholders in conjunction with management and individually as appropriate.
  4. Develop a detailed understanding of specific key spend areas and subsequently tender, negotiate and award contracts.
  5. Represent Group Procurement within the business and Biffa within the wider business community.
  6. Produce regular reports on key activities including updates on progress on projects, savings delivered and opportunities identified for the Senior Category Manager.
  7. Support the preparation of forecast reports on future market trends in commodities, currency and other key business factors to allow for improved business performance against budget.

Our essential requirements

  1. Studying towards CIPS.
  2. 2 years relevant procurement experience.
  3. Working understanding of legal issues such as Contract law.
  4. Confident with all Microsoft Applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
  5. Engaging with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
