Business Services Finance Accountant

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Due to the continued success and international growth of the Firm, we are looking to recruit an established Finance Accountant to support our Business Services (non-fee earning) overhead team.
You will have ownership of all financial management information relating to the Business Services functions in partnership with the Head of Department.
With a significant amount of stakeholder engagement from the outset, you will establish relationships with key stakeholders across the business and become the key contact for all financial needs.

THE TEAM
The Group Finance team supports and drives the financial success of Addleshaw Goddard. The Group Finance team comprises business professionals across a range of disciplines including Financial Control, Tax, Procurement, Business Partnering, Financial Planning & Analysis, Credit Control, Accounts Payable, Legal Billing, and Legal Cashiering.
The Business Services Finance team are business partners and trusted advisors to the Firm's Business Services leaders, commercially managing the Firm's overhead spend to drive operational and financial excellence across the Functions and ensure value for money is being achieved. The team consists of 8 colleagues, based from our Leeds office, ranging from entry-level Finance Assistants up to qualified Accountant business partners.
You will work as part of an established team, with a significant track record of internal promotion and career development. We are committed to supporting and providing progression opportunities at all levels across the Firm.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE
The Business Services Finance Accountant has responsibility for managing overhead spend, collaborating with key stakeholders across business areas, to drive efficiency and ensure value for money is achieved. The Business Services Finance Accountant is also expected to support on a range of annual projects and ensure that investments are commercially tracked with relevant stakeholders.

DUTIES
The following list is not exhaustive but gives a good indication of the duties the Business Services Finance Accountant undertakes:

• Deliver a robust and accurate financial plan for the business service function in which they support getting buy-in from stakeholders across the function, delivering timely insight using the firm's finance and planning model.
• Deliver regular reforecasting during the financial year, using the firm's finance and planning model.
• Deliver monthly management accounts with clear commentary to the Business Services Finance Manager and key stakeholders, highlighting any risks or opportunities.
• Ensure Balance Sheet postings are reconciled monthly and communicate accordingly with the Financial Control team.
• Represent Group Finance in the business area they support, understanding financial performance, potential challenges, and aspirations, offering commercial guidance and solutions as a trusted advisor.
• Work closely within Group Finance to ensure mandated controls.

YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
To be successful in this role you will:

• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
• Be a confident stakeholder manager, with evidenced experience of engaging and influencing internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
• Have a good understanding of financial controls and procedures.
• Be comfortable presenting financial information to stakeholders of all levels.
• Experience of delivering accurate planning and forecast.
• Experience of being a team player in a high performing team.
• Be able to use own initiative and promote continuous improvement.
• Possess excellent organisational skills and attention to detail with an ability to work under pressure whilst managing competing deadlines as well as delegating work to other team members.
• Remain calm and optimistic in time-sensitive situations or when under pressure.
• Strong Excel skills.
