The Rating team at WSP GL Hearn is a highly skilled and specialised group, dedicated to providing exceptional Rating and Valuation services to clients in the commercial real estate sector. With an in-depth understanding of the complex rating landscape, our team combines extensive industry knowledge with strategic insights to deliver accurate and insightful assessments.

This role will involve, but not be limited to:
- Line Management of the Rate Payment Management (RPM) team in Southampton.
- Operational local leadership of the RPM in Southampton.
- Demonstrate key values and required standards of behaviours to direct reports when undertaking client instruction management.
- Work with the Head of Rate Payment Management to enhance the Rate Payment service where growth is identified and maintain the reputation of the team amongst colleagues and clients.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Demonstrable record of working within the business rate profession - experience in a local authority business rates environment or equivalent experience in private practice.
- IRRV Qualified (Level 3 minimum) and evidence of CPD.
- Comprehensive understanding of business rate schemes and appeal procedures in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Eire and the Channel Islands.
- Able to calculate complex rate liabilities and a specialist in business rate transition schemes, translating this into simpler terminology for both clients and colleagues.
- A working knowledge of Valuation methodology and practice.
- Comprehensive financial and numeracy skills which demonstrate accuracy and financial probity.
- A complete understanding of the functions of the Client Monies Service and the requirements of RICS Rule 8 Protecting Client Money.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in dealings with clients and billing authorities and colleagues.
- Thorough knowledge of the Payment Management module on GLHIMS and the ability to correctly interpret the data contained within the Appeals modules.
- Ability to manipulate large volumes of data in Excel, perform look ups to match data accurately and combine sheets.
- Demonstrable track record of mentoring colleagues and being a role model for colleague interaction and client facing activities.
- Experience of direct line management or history of mentoring junior colleagues.
