Information Technology (IT) provides technology and digital services to the staff and students, including front line support services, infrastructure, applications, and project delivery. We are a department of 173 staff.

The Business Operations Manager will head and lead the Office of the CIO, including the Executive Support, Admin and Information Management functions.

Responsibilities

The Business Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and efficiency of IT as an operating unit. This includes all administrative processes, including resource allocation and information management functions. This is a complementary role to technical directorates which oversee the design and evolution of digital and technology services.

The person in this role will develop and provide leadership Office of the CIO function to support IT’s new operating model including: leading on the delivery of key strategic initiatives, supporting the mobilisation of the digital and technology strategy, effective delivery of finance and staffing processes, development and embedding of resource allocation and work intake processes, monitoring performance against defined service standards, and leading on communication and information processes to support the maturity of IT to achieve our new Target Operating Model.

The role will have direct reports of around 6-10 staff.

Person Specification

We are seeking a confident, organised and professional self-starter, who has demonstrable leadership and line management experience in a senior role within an IT Department. You will have a proven track record of leading and delivering key strategic initiatives including organisational change, information management and administrative support functions.

The role-holder will be experienced in motivating staff and developing high performing teams, promoting excellence in areas of administrative and communication services, including introducing policies, procedures, processes, and systems effectively across a large and diverse organisation.
