This role will be to support regional business units, senior management, and the global intelligence function by researching, analyzing, and reporting on economic and political issues that could impact business activities within the Europe region, in terms of both risks and opportunities, providing relevant reports, briefings, and more.
This position requires fluent Japanese - ESSENTIAL for this role and team.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, research, and analyze economic and political events and trends, including foreign affairs, within the EU and wider Europe region.
Share intelligence regarding economic and political events and trends, as well as country risk issues with relevant stakeholders (regional business units, senior management, and the global intelligence function) to facilitate business in the Europe region.
Collaborate with relevant departments of Tokyo HQ and other global intelligence teams around the world, including the Middle East and Washington.
Develop and coordinate an information network with external entities such as think-tanks, universities, governmental institutions, and embassies within the Europe region.
Attend external seminars or symposiums across the region to collect information and develop an information network.
Visit countries throughout the Europe region and beyond to collect information and extend the company's information gathering network.
Manage and help to develop the potential of the department in Brussels and London.

Minimum Requirements:
Significant experience working at a senior level in a think-tank or research department, such as in a global industrial or financial institution.
Fluent in English and Japanese - Will collaborate closely with Tokyo, as reporting will also need to be produced in Japanese.
Writing analytical research reports.
Experience in managing a team at various levels.
A Master's Degree or above in an Economics or International Relations related field.
Excellent presentation skills (Microsoft Office skills to prepare political and economic reports, including creating graphs and other graphics, and also have data manipulation skills).
Budgeting and/or cost control experience.
Able to travel regularly within the Europe region or other regions and engage with a wide range of business stakeholders.
Comfortable and competent in dealing with senior management and with public speaking.
