The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's Business Intelligence team are looking for a new Business Intelligence Developer.

Main duties of the job

The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the development of reports and dashboards to support the management of the Trust's chosen Business Intelligence and dashboard reporting solution. They will be responsible for assisting with the design, development, and maintenance of activity reporting across the Trust, as well as statutory reporting for external agencies.

This will involve collaborative working with the wider Business Intelligence team to embed development and automation in the analysts' daily life. This includes gathering requirements in order to develop solutions that are of a high standard and meet the demands of both internal and external stakeholders.

The Business Intelligence Developer will ensure development, testing, and deployment work is undertaken to a high standard using the agreed departmental methods and standards to deliver robust solutions with an acceptable level of performance, ensuring that developments are documented appropriately to facilitate cross-team support of solutions. This includes conforming to the agreed change management procedures in place.

The Business Intelligence Developer will support and educate colleagues across the organisation on the Trust Business Intelligence portal, data quality issues, and effective ways of working in relation to Business Intelligence.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Educated to relevant degree level or equivalent proven practical experience
  • Membership of a relevant Fed-IP recognised professional body
  • Evidence of continued Personal Development

Knowledge

  • Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft SQL Server (including SSIS) to develop complex ETL and automation solutions
  • Experience and knowledge of using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to develop tabular, dashboard, and interactive reports.
  • Experienced using Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge of Business Intelligence dashboarding and reporting
  • Experience using Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services to develop cubes to support reporting solutions
  • Power BI

Experience

  • Experience working in a BI development role or equivalent
  • Experience developing and testing reporting solutions
  • Experience documenting data flows and processes
  • Good level of experience of data transmission software and techniques
  • Understanding of information governance, freedom of information, and related issues in a clinical information environment
  • Experience of Meditech
  • Experience of supporting and providing training to end users
  • Experience of discussing and collating end user requirements
  • Experience of NHS data sets, broad understanding of NHS information procedures, legislation, and policies.
