Location: Aylesbury
This post focuses on Public Health data and we are therefore looking for candidates with Business Intelligence Analyst experience with some knowledge of Public Health and/or Health data. Please note this is not a Data Engineer or Programming role. This is a secondment / fixed-term contract until 4 September 2026. This post is 24 hours per week however this could negotiated for the right candidate and the salary advertised will therefore be pro-rata for the hours agreed. As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with experienced data professionals to help extract, analyse, and interpret data to support business decisions. You will be responsible for gathering and organising data from various sources, performing data analysis, and presenting your findings clearly and concisely.
You will support the delivery of corporate performance reporting, including quality assurance, process improvement, and efficient data capture. You will also develop good working relationships and communicate effectively with internal customers, collaborators, external bodies, organisations, partners, and stakeholders.
The Business Intelligence team are a highly collaborative and supportive function, providing excellent opportunities to develop your skills across various analytical disciplines and customer service areas. The team is part of the Business Intelligence and Community Support (BI & CS) Service within the Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) Directorate. You will be primarily assigned to support the Adults & Health (A&H) Directorate. However, you will also have opportunities to be involved in cross-cutting projects with other Directorates.

You will support the development of high quality, specialist, business intelligence and insight from internal, external, and partner sources. You will support evidence-based decision making and forward planning, which will drive continuous and sustained improvements in service delivery, value for money, and customer satisfaction.
You will research, process, and evaluate information and data to support business requirements. Trends, issues, and options will need to be identified and prioritised, and used as a basis for conclusions and recommendations which will support decision making.
You will work closely with stakeholders to clarify changing business requirements and identify improvement opportunities. You will develop good working relationships and communicate effectively with internal customers and collaborators, external bodies, organisations, partners, and stakeholders.
This role supports the Public Health function, and you will work to develop the range of analytical support that we offer to Public Health colleagues and collaborate with analysts across the Council. You will be delivering high quality data analysis and helping to develop reports, dashboards, and other online data resources and infographics. You will also play a key role in the development of statutory statistical collections such as the Director of Public Health Annual Report and the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, and lead on analytical projects to identify health needs of the population.
As part of your role, you will contribute to the development of others. This could be through sharing technical and procedural knowledge, skills, and experience, acting as a coach or mentor, or providing feedback.
Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
The role will require excellent ICT skills, including using Microsoft applications and specialist systems. This should include intermediate Excel skills and an understanding of how interactive visualisation tools such as Power BI can be used and deployed. You will also be technically minded and willing to learn new tools, techniques, and processes, as well as having good statistical and data interpretation skills, report writing and an understanding of how health data can be used to drive change.
