The BI Analyst will contribute to the development and delivery of the Business Intelligence Platform. This will involve acting as part of a centre of excellence, liaising with Data Analysts, Engineers, and Business stakeholders to deliver a self-service solution utilising our modern data platform.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform a prominent role in the centre of excellence for business intelligence defining best practices for wider self-service adoption.
  2. Mentor business champions building solutions for their specific departments.
  3. Business Intelligence platform architecture and administration.
  4. Liaise with data analysts and business stakeholders to gather requirements.
  5. Translate requirements into technical solutions.
  6. Advanced data modelling skills.
  7. Data visualisation.
  8. Proficient in performance analysis and tuning.
  9. Ensure data security policies are applied appropriately.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  1. Advanced Power BI (Modelling, Visualisation, Security, Platform Architecture and Administration).
  2. DAX expressions.
  3. Advanced SQL skills (SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL).
  4. Knowledge of Kimball data modelling methodology.
  5. Experience of the Azure Data Platform including Azure Databricks.

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of wider Microsoft Fabric platform.
  2. CICD (Git, Azure Devops, Bitbucket).
  3. Semi-structured data stores and formats (MongoDB, JSON).
  4. Experience of working in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  5. Knowledge of Financial Markets.

Soft Skills:

  1. Able to communicate effectively with varied colleagues ranging from senior stakeholders in different business areas through to the technical implementation teams.
  2. Think long-term, but deliver iteratively, and show value in small but frequent advancements.
  3. Understand industry trends and best practice and be selective about what is applicable for Marex.
