Business Intelligence Analyst

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Intelligence Analyst to join a renowned company known for its pioneering research and development in sustainable materials. This permanent role offers a salary range of £35,000 to £40,000.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be providing in-depth patent landscape analysis and combining these insights with broader business intelligence to guide the organisation's research and innovative efforts.

You will be responsible for:

1. Developing and executing patent search strategies, presenting your findings through visualisation tools to inform research teams.
2. Conducting detailed patent searches and analysis to map competitor activity and identify trends in areas of strategic interest.
3. Gathering and interpreting business intelligence from non-patent sources to deliver comprehensive reports.
4. Managing relationships with external patent search providers and maintaining licences for patent search software.
5. Collaborating with internal research teams to align patent analysis with ongoing technological developments.

What we are looking for:

1. Previously worked in a similar role such as Business Intelligence Analyst, Business Analyst, research analyst, or data analyst.
2. Proven experience in conducting patent searches, with the ability to distil large datasets into actionable insights.
3. A PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, or equivalent experience in a relevant research position.
4. A strong interest in patents and delivering business intelligence to influence research strategies.
5. Ability to quickly understand new technologies and areas outside your prior experience.
6. Familiarity with patent databases such as Derwent Innovation, PatentSight, or Orbit is desirable.
