Business Development Representative (London)

Aon is currently recruiting for a Business Development Representative to join our Impact Forecasting (IF) team in London. Impact Forecasting develops, maintains, supports, and promotes the use of catastrophe models for various natural and human-made perils including flood, windstorm, earthquake, fire, and terrorism. The team of 160 members are spread across 5 offices around the world (Prague, London, Chicago, Singapore, and Bangalore) and comprises scientists, model and software developers, business development, and client support colleagues.
Seeking a positive and diligent individual to collaborate with colleagues, clients, and prospects in promoting Impact Forecasting’s catastrophe models to insurers and reinsurers globally.
About the Role:
  1. Pursuing opportunities and working with leads interested in Impact Forecasting’s solutions
  2. Conducting technical sales presentations to prospective clients
  3. Developing quotes and proposals for prospective clients
  4. Crafting and managing strong client relationships, and coordinating (re)insurer client accounts across the London market, Europe, and beyond
  5. Working with IF and Aon colleagues to drive adoption of Impact Forecasting models across Risk Capital teams
  6. Organising and preparation of market events like conferences and workshops
  7. Handling requests and communications in a timely, effective, and highly professional manner
About you:
  1. Solid understanding of catastrophe / climate models and their use within the financial services sector.
  2. Understanding of the science of natural catastrophes and ability to validate and interpret the modelled loss estimates
  3. Proven experience of working with clients across account management and/or business development activities
  4. Good communication skills with the ability to present to a wide audience (insurers, reinsurers, technology partners) on technical subjects such as model outputs, hazard/risk scores, event response services
  5. Strong project and task management, with capability to work in a team, independently, working under pressure, multi-task, and ability to prioritise work.
  6. Availability to occasionally work outside of standard business hours when dealing with overseas clients and colleagues
  7. Willingness to travel
