Job description

o2h Discovery is looking for a dynamic individual to join us as a Business Development Manager to support the growth and create a foothold in the Australian market. The successful candidate will lead the expansion efforts of o2h Discovery in the Australian market. The focus of the role is to develop and build on existing relationships in the southern hemisphere; these include both direct customer interactions with biotechnology and pharma companies and developing new relationship establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the ongoing business and collaborators in the biotech cluster.
  • Establishing and executing business development initiatives that are consistent with the company's overall strategy.
  • Engaging with the ongoing collaborators to identify new business opportunities.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and expanding the business pipeline - this will include a detailed survey of new markets (local/domestic), growth areas, current trends, business forecast, competition to develop the o2h Ecosystem in Australia.
  • Drive deep working relationships with Venture Capitalists in Australia through the o2h Platinum Partner Programme.
Key Elements of the Role:
  • Business Expansion Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand o2h Discovery's presence in the Australian market, aligning with the company's global objectives.
  • Business Development: Identifying new business opportunities and expanding the business pipeline - this will include a detailed survey of new markets (local/domestic), growth areas, current trends, business forecast, competition. Achieving quarterly and annual targets/budgeted revenues.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders to understand capabilities, strengths, and objectives, and collaborate to leverage these for effective market positioning.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: Utilise your existing network and establish new relationships within the pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic sectors to promote o2h Discovery's services and forge strategic partnerships.
  • o2h Kickstarter Initiative: Build network with VCs focused on investing in biotech (therapeutics) and incubations, academia to onboard them as o2h Platinum partners for kick-starter programme.
  • Event and Conferences: Representing o2h at industry events, trade shows, networking events and webinars.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather and analyse market insights, identify potential clients, and stay updated on industry trends to drive business growth opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with internal teams across research, operations, and leadership to align commercial strategies with organisational capabilities.
  • Business Case Development: Prepare comprehensive and detailed business case studies, analysing market potential, outlining strategic approaches, and assessing ROI calculations for potential business ventures.
  • Management Presentation: Present these case studies to the company management, articulating required resources, infrastructure needs, financial projections, and anticipated return on investment (ROI) to support informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Relevant years of experience in the CRO/FTE/Pharma industry with a proven track record in business development
  • Clear understanding of BD principles, strategy, and design
  • Experience in managing RFI/RFP/RFQ and collaborators visits
  • Have a passion for marketing and investment as well as being open to continuous learning and education
  • Strong knowledge of marketing software tools such as Hub spot, Google Analytics, SEMRush
  • Creative thinking to spot new customers and growth opportunities
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and keep commitments/timelines
  • Be highly organised with the ability to work independently in a fast paced team environment
  • Ability to work in a team in a transparent and entrepreneurial culture
  • Self-motivated with initiative to reach challenging targets
  • Outstanding business writing and proofreading skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • The position could be part-time or full-time.
  • You should have a degree in Chemistry "OR" Biology "OR" BioChemistry.
