About Our Opportunity

Business Development Managers are key members of our commercial teams. They are responsible for sourcing the material that EMR buys, processes, and trades. Business Development Managers find new opportunities, build relationships, and sell the industry-leading services that EMR has to offer.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for developing business and improving performance to manage a portfolio of suppliers from a wide range of sectors and industries.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Sourcing material from a wide range of suppliers to support the overall commercial strategy of the business
  • Identifying new opportunities and generating financial growth through the procurement of scrap metal and other recyclable materials
  • Buying material in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery parameters, utilising negotiation and procurement best practice methods
  • Building relationships with new and existing suppliers, as well as stakeholders within the business and the wider recycling industry
  • Managing existing contracts to achieve business savings and maximise efficiencies
  • Delivering sustained growth and continuous improvements as part of a dynamic commercial buying team
  • Continuously developing your knowledge on scrap metal grading and processing methods, changes in relevant legislation, and industry best practices
About You

  • You will have a strong track record of developing and delivering new business, as well as the ability to generate growth from existing suppliers
  • You will be an entrepreneurial self-starter who is open-minded and enthusiastic
  • You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deal with customers of all types
  • You will have the passion to drive success, always demonstrating a can-do attitude to pursuing goals and seizing opportunities
  • You will be a strategic thinker, able to develop and implement strategies to achieve long-term strategic outcomes
  • You will hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel and spend occasional nights away from home
