Description

Our client, a leading long-established international financier of IT assets and services, is seeking an additional Business Development Director to join their successful and fast-expanding team to focus nationally on the Education sector.

This role is tasked to increase our client's market position and achieve financial growth by building direct relationships with clients in the Education market who best suit their residual value-based subscription solution with added services.

The role is a combination of lead generation activities, telephone sales, and face-to-face client meetings depending on the size and complexity of transactions.

You will be expected to identify new business opportunities, negotiate and close transactions, and maintain extensive knowledge of the leasing and technology market.

You will be expected to originate new business from scratch, utilizing personal canvassing, sales origination tools such as Lead Forensics, Sales Navigator, and social networking tools such as LinkedIn, the internet, and trade journals/shows.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Prospect for potential new Education clients to introduce our client's proposition.
  2. Cold call new prospects to ensure a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
  3. Meet potential clients (where appropriate) to identify their requirements and articulate our client's funding and value-added services.
  4. Identify potential clients and the decision makers and influencers within the client organization.
  5. Research and build relationships with new clients.
  6. Set up meetings between client decision makers and, as required, our client's management team to support the process.
  7. Plan approaches and pitches by working with our client's management team to develop presentations and proposals that meet and exceed the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
  8. Participate in pricing the lease solution and additional value-added services.
  9. Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements, and working through differences to a positive conclusion. Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
  10. Present an image that mirrors that of the customer and that of our client.
  11. Build recurrent new business with newly won and existing clients.

Candidate Profile

  1. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 plus years’ experience of cold calling and self-generation of leads with prospects with the ability to sell the concept and benefits of leasing technology assets to clients, ideally in the Education market – schools, further education, private schools, and/or universities.
  2. The role will suit a self-motivated, self-disciplined, entrepreneurial individual who is looking to develop their sales career in an environment that actively encourages individuals to succeed.
  3. Ideally, you will have worked previously in a sales role where you have canvassed for new business via the telephone and managed the sales process from end to end.
  4. You should have the ability to understand a prospective client's company accounts; management information and knowledge of credit would be a distinct advantage.
  5. The successful candidate should have a good knowledge and interest in technology, the ability to understand the different types of technology products a customer is acquiring and how it will be used by their business is key.
  6. You will need to be able to converse with confidence with both finance and IT departments at prospective customers. Active support will be provided by our client's management team who will attend meetings to provide support and guidance as required.
  7. We are seeking applications from those who are energetic, enthusiastic, and above all persistent as the technology leasing market is an extremely competitive one.
  8. Our client has a hybrid working policy; while on probation, you can expect to work from their central London offices 2 days a week. Once your probation is completed, this can reduce to 1 day a week.

PLEASE NOTE: To avoid wasting time, the position will never become a wholly remote role, so please do not apply if you are unable or unwilling to work from offices in central London for 2 days per week while on probation and 1 day per week thereafter.

Realistic year 2 earnings of > £150,000 are expected to be in order for a high achiever.
