Job description

As our Business Development Associate, you will play a critical role in taking cultivated fat to market in the UK, Asia and beyond. You’ll be responsible for winning new commercial opportunities and managing key customer relationships. Working in a world-class startup backed by top investors, you’ll invent new business models for a remarkable product at the interface between food and biotech. You’ll play a critical part in our mission to launch a deliciously fatty ingredient that will transform the future of food.

Reporting to the CEO, you will collaborate with our product development and R&D teams as we refine our go-to-market plan and sell Hoxton Fat to the food industry across multiple channels. You’ll identify valuable partnership opportunities, rapidly adapting your strategy and tactics as Hoxton Farms’ product development and manufacturing roadmap evolves. The partnerships that you build will be key to defining a new category in the food industry.

To succeed in this role, you should be passionate about commercialising complex technologies. You must be proactive and flexible, equally comfortable researching new market opportunities, maintaining our CRM, developing recipes with our product development chef, preparing technical sales materials or pitching our products to customers. You’ll need to develop a deep understanding of our product and business model, tailoring your tactics for each customer. Your success will be measured by the revenue potential of the partnerships that you build.

This role is fully in-person in London and will involve frequent international travel to visit new and existing customers and attend conferences and trade shows.

  5. Create and deliver presentations and proposals to prospects and clients
  6. Manage ongoing codevelopment projects to ensure customer success
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, food science and product development, to ensure the success of our BD strategy

You should have:

  2. ~2 years’ experience in a fast-paced commercial role (eg., high-growth startup, management consulting or VC/PE)
  3. Experience in account management and/or project management with multinational corporates, especially in FMCG/CPG, food retail or food service
  4. Enthusiasm for science and engineering and willingness to work closely with engineers, product development specialists and food scientists
  5. Excellent written communication, pitching and data handling
  6. Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for negotiation and relationship-building

Ideally you’ll have:

  1. Commercial experience in Asian markets such as Singapore, Japan, Thailand or Korea
  2. Proficiency in Mandarin, Japanese, Thai or Korean
  3. Technical experience in food science, biotech or chemical engineering
  4. An existing network in the F&B industry
  5. Flexibility, creativity and resourcefulness to identify new business opportunities in the UK, Europe, Asia and US
  6. Proven experience making strategic decisions based on technical data
  7. Experience supporting senior leadership and preparing materials for customers and investors
  8. A track record of managing customer relationships and coordinating corporate partnerships

The benefits:
