Who we are:

We’re not just talking about making a difference, we’re making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

Drax Energy Solutions is a forward-thinking electricity supplier committed to using our expertise to enable a zero-carbon energy future. We are part of Drax Group, a FTSE 250 company that’s leading the way in sustainability.

About the role:

  • Join us on our Business Development Graduate Programme in autumn 2025 and play an important role in tackling climate change, whilst learning new skills: shaping and developing an exciting career within an ambitious, purpose-driven organisation.
  • The duration of the programme is 24 months, with the option to choose different placements based on your career aspirations and development needs. Upon completion, you’ll move into a permanent role and be well equipped to develop a rewarding career in an exciting and forward-thinking industry.

Throughout the programme you’ll have opportunities to play an important part in a range of areas, for example:

  • Developing our Electric Vehicle Propositions. Understanding customer needs, staying up to date with technological developments and delivering new customer propositions.
  • Managing our Supply and Renewables Trading Portfolio – assessing risk and developing mitigation strategies to enable customers to secure their energy needs.
  • Optimising our Business and Sales Performance through Operational Excellence tools and our digital programme – improving customer experience whilst reducing our operating costs.
  • Managing our Supply and Renewables Portfolio – forecasting costs and managing risks associated with electricity contracts enabling customers to secure their energy needs.

You can expect to work in a demanding but rewarding environment, guided by a senior mentor, and supported by colleagues who want you to succeed. We ask that you bring energy and your skills, ready to learn and make a positive difference.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You’ll have achieved a 2.1 or be expecting to achieve a 2:1, or 2:2 with a masters in a relevant subject.
  • A good sense of business acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail is important for this programme.
  • There will be a lot of collaboration throughout your rotations, so strong communication skills and the ability to tell a story through your work and tasks will help you along the way!
  • Having the appetite, curiosity, and ability to manage and navigate complexity in a team environment is also highly beneficial. This might have been developed through a degree programme and strong academic record – but if you think you have it what it takes and have chosen a different academic journey please reach out. A willingness to push yourself and learn is also key.

Rewards and benefits:

As you help us to shape the future, we’ve shaped our rewards and benefits to help you thrive and support your lifestyle.

If successful in this role you’ll get:

  • A discretionary bonus depending on company performance
  • Private Healthcare with Vitality
  • SAYE (Sharesave): discretionary scheme from time to time
  • Personal accident cover
  • Group personal pension plan where we’ll pay up to 10%
  • Holiday 25 days plus bank holidays
  • Reimbursement of the cost of your annual membership of one relevant and appropriate professional body
