Job description

Job Description

We're searching for a Business Analyst - Technical Consultant — a skilled communicator and strategist who can connect business stakeholders with DevOps and engineering teams to drive smarter outcomes. This isn't a hands-on DevOps engineering role or a platform management gig. Instead, you'll focus on understanding business needs, translating them into actionable insights, and ensuring technical teams deliver with efficiency and clarity. If you thrive at the intersection of business analysis and technical strategy, this is for you.

What You'll Be Doing:

  1. Bridge the Gap: Act as the go-between for business leaders and DevOps/engineering teams, making sure priorities align and communication flows smoothly.
  2. Uncover Needs: Lead discovery sessions with stakeholders to gather requirements, define user stories, and pinpoint what success looks like.
  3. Shape Strategy: Analyse workflows (like CI/CD pipelines or automation processes) and recommend improvements that boost delivery and business value—no coding required.
  4. Spot Opportunities: Use data and observation to identify process gaps and propose practical, business-focused solutions.
  5. Keep Everyone Informed: Facilitate discussions, clarify technical concepts for non-tech stakeholders, and translate business goals for engineers.
  6. Document Clearly: Create straightforward process maps, reports, and dashboards that keep projects on track and stakeholders aligned.
  7. Assess Impact: Evaluate risks and benefits of changes, ensuring they deliver results without derailing operations.

Requirements

  1. 4+ years in business analysis, technical project management, or a role bridging business and tech teams.
  2. A solid understanding of DevOps fundamentals (e.g., CI/CD, automation, cloud platforms like AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)—enough to discuss intelligently, not to build.
  3. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Git—not as a power user, but as someone who gets how they fit into the big picture.
  4. Outstanding communication skills: you can simplify tech for executives and frame business needs for engineers.
  5. A degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience that shows you can handle both sides.
  6. Bonus: Exposure to scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) or infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), but it's not a dealbreaker. Experience with SaaS is a plus.

Benefits

  1. Paying in the region of £60k pro-rata
  2. Initial 6 month contract which could become permanent.
  3. Remote but with some occasional London site visits.
