Islington Council offers a wide range of high-quality apprenticeships. Our apprenticeships combine working in a great job, with training, development, and a competitive salary. You will be given dedicated time in your working week to focus on your studies. You will also have access to a network of colleagues from within the organisation and tutors to support your learning.

During your time in this role, we would seek to provide you with a broad scope of experience and knowledge with your role and provide you with the means to develop your career at Islington Council. There are two Business Administration apprenticeships available, consisting of a 21-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to our iWork and Safeguarding Adults Unit team.

Team 1 - Islington Working

Islington Working is a partnership of agencies, employers working together to help local people to access good local jobs. The iWork offers a front door to all local employment support services including our own in-house iWork offer. Team 2 - Safeguarding Adults Unit

The Safeguarding Adults Units is located at 222 Upper Street. It consists of 4 small teams/units: Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB), Safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act Team, Safeguarding Learning and Development Team and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Office (DoLS). The Safeguarding Adults Units support the work of the Safeguarding Adults Partnership Board, provides advice and guidance to staff and the public about safeguarding adults, raises awareness of what Safeguarding Adults means and provides support and advice on safeguarding policies and procedures. This is achieved through excellent customer service and the delivery of key activities which are designed to meet the needs of our customers. Working as part of a friendly and well-respected team, your role will be varied and rewarding.

Minimum Requirements

To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:

  • Be aged 16 or above
  • Be an Islington resident
  • Islington care leaver
  • Islington school leaver in the last 12 months

You will also need to satisfy the following course entry requirements:

  • Not already have a qualification at a similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
  • Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject
  • Pass the course entry tests for example in Maths and English
