Job Title: Building Surveyor - Rail

Type: Contract (12 months)

About the Role

I am seeking a skilled Building Surveyor to support the delivery of property inspections and asset condition reporting across a diverse portfolio. This role plays a critical part in shaping long-term maintenance and renewal strategies, ensuring that assets are safe, compliant, and well-maintained within budgetary constraints.

Covering the northern corridor from Crewe to Carlisle, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections of stations, depots, and lineside buildings. While the base office is in Manchester, regular travel across Cumbria is essential and so a vehicle and fuel card will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Carry out annual property inspections and assessments.
  2. Report on the condition of various railway assets, including operational and non-operational buildings.
  3. Support the development of asset management strategies.
  4. Contribute to maintenance planning aligned with safety regulations and budget considerations.
  5. Work collaboratively with surveyors and engineering teams.
Essential Requirements
  1. Degree in Building Surveying or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  2. Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB).
  3. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  4. Full UK Driving Licence.
Mandatory Safety Competencies
  1. PTS
  2. ACDC (Alternating Current/Direct Current Electrical Systems)
  3. Working at Height (Must be willing to obtain if not already held)
