Skills & Experience required:

  1. HNC in Building Studies or equivalent
  2. A sound knowledge of construction and Building Surveying techniques and practices.
  3. Awareness of health and safety issues, including CDM regulations
  4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry (construction/maintenance environment).
  5. Approximately 5 years’ experience of procurement methods and partnering processes.
  6. Experience of Retrofit schemes
  7. Experience in project management from inception to final account.
  8. Effective communication skills
  9. Ability to lead and motivate a team
  10. Ability to scope capital schemes.

Desirable:

  1. Degree in Construction related subject.
  2. RICS/CIOB Associate membership

What's involved with this role: You will assist the Building Surveying Manager in delivering surveying, specification, and estimating services, as well as procuring and managing contracts.

Key duties:

  1. Prepare bills of quantities, design specifications, valuations, and measure works on-site; prepare claims, schedules of rates, and small estimates for various clients.
  2. Process documentation to support efficient work across sections, assist with cost/value reconciliations, and aid the financial controller in account production.
  3. Evaluate subcontractors, issue subcontract enquiries, raise orders, and manage sub-contract accounts.
  4. Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and track spend against programme performance.
  5. Lead retrofit grant schemes, ensuring compliance with PAS, Trustmark, Retrofit Designer, Assessor, and Co-ordinator requirements.
  6. Lead contract procurement with the Procurement Team and Building Surveying Manager, including tender preparation, process identification, and evaluation of submissions.
  7. Manage contractor relationships, conduct regular meetings, on-site inspections, post-inspections, and maintain relevant records for payment, safeguarding, Health and Safety, and asset management.
