Job description

Job Description

A leading commercial property management business is seeking a Building Surveyor / Chartered Building Surveyor to join their ESG (Sustainability) team in Bristol. You do not require any current sustainability experience; you will utilise your technical building knowledge to consult on sustainability projects.

Reporting into the Head of ESG and part of a growing team, you will be focused on reviewing commercial properties, often as part of a pre-acquisition due diligence survey, assessing their sustainability and creating reports on ways to enhance ESG and Net Zero performance.

Any ESG or sustainability experience is great, but simply an interest and desire to learn is the minimum requirement as all training and upskilling will be provided.

Duties will include:

  • Manage a full range of building surveying ESG instructions on a variety of commercial properties, including offices, retail, industrial, and PRS. Work will include ESG-focused pre-acquisition due diligence surveys, development monitoring, project management, net zero asset plans, and developing minimum standards for refurbishment and development.
  • You will be responsible for delivering on your own projects within the deadlines set, with support from an experienced management team.
  • You will have opportunities to work directly with clients, developing relationships and securing further instructions.
  • Assisting with preparing fee bids, presenting pitches, and briefings to clients.

Candidate MUST have:

  • Strong technical understanding of property from experience as a Building Surveyor.
  • Good client-facing skills.
  • Real interest in sustainability and ESG, with a passion to develop skills in this space.

Desirable are:

  • Be a RICS qualified Chartered Building Surveyor.
  • Relevant ESG or Sustainability qualifications.
  • Exposure to energy modelling software, whole life carbon assessments, BREEAM, net zero pathways, LCA, or building performance.

The role offers hybrid working, with 2 days a week from home and requires travel to client sites on some of the other days. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, progressive, and supportive business with great career progression opportunities.

The successful candidate will receive a basic salary of between £35,000 to £55,000 based on your skills, plus a bonus, pension, and good benefits.
