About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Building Services Engineer to provide a comprehensive and responsive maintenance service across our site(s). This role involves close collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and clients to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
You will be responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance, ensuring all tasks are logged, tracked, and completed using the CAFM system to maintain compliance and service standards.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, with a 30 minute lunch break, working between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM). Additional hours may be required, including participation in an on-call rota.
A validated DBS check is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, re-glazing, unblocking sinks, changing locks, replacing light bulbs, tap washers, and easing doors
- Maintain external grounds, ensuring they are free from litter and debris
- Empty external refuse bins and keep bin areas clean
- Clear surface drains, gullies, manholes, and grease traps
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with schedules, using a handheld PDA where required
- Report any accidents, hazards, spills, or near misses in line with company procedures
- Maintain work areas (e.g., workshops) in a clean, safe, and organized manner
- Supervise and oversee the work of specialist sub-contractors as required
- Manage and issue Permit to Work documents where necessary
- Complete time sheets, stock reports, and relevant documentation in a timely manner
- Perform minor administrative tasks when required
- Provide high-quality service and maintain regular communication with site occupants
- Ensure all set deadlines and response times are met
- Follow company Health & Safety Plans and escalate any concerns
- Use PPE, tools, equipment, and substances in line with safe working practices and risk assessments
- Attend health & safety training and toolbox talks, applying key learnings to daily work
About You
- City & Guilds 236 or 2357 Level 3 (Electrical or Mechanical equivalent competency)
- 17th or 18th Edition Test & Inspect (or mechanical equivalent)
- A full, clean driving licence
- Demonstratable experience in a similar role
- Familiarity with service level agreements (SLAs) and a track record of delivering against them
- Knowledge of building and information management systems
- Experience in operational maintenance
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to build and maintain effective networks internally and externally
- Understanding of project and operations management in FM service provisions
- Proactive and passionate about making a difference
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to work both independently and under pressure
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
