Job description

We are recruiting for a Building Maintenance Operative / Engineer to cover PPM and reactive maintenance on a mobile basis in the East Cheshire, Crewe and Stoke area. The maintenance operative/engineer will be responsible for working on healthcare/care provider estates and completing planned and reactive maintenance to the buildings. The role is a permanent position paying between 35-38k (38k for engineering background) depending on qualification and skill level. Mon-Fri 40 hours per week days. Van provided and on call TBC.


Maintenance Engineer Description:

To travel to each facility completing reactive repairs, planned maintenance and small works projects:

  1. Plumbing repairs and maintenance
  2. Basic Electrical work such as lamping and emergency light checks
  3. Drainage
  4. Fabric maintenance duties - basic joinery, painting, plastering etc.
  5. L8 prevention and thermostatic mixer valves (TMV)
  6. General handyperson duties
  7. Logging jobs via PDA and communicating with the helpdesk etc.
  8. Liaison with each site manager

Maintenance Operative Requirements:
  1. To have general technical skills such as basic plumbing and/or electrical - ideally some basic qualifications in the subject matter
  2. Applicants are expected to have several years prior experience some of which will have been in a similar role and have good customer skills.
  3. It is essential staff are self-motivated and promote a “Can do” customer attitude at all times.
  4. Valid driving license
  5. Ability and desire to complete general fabric maintenance tasks and building works such as plastering and painting
  6. Be prepared to undertake training as required by the post and the contract manager.
  7. Operate all systems within the building in a competent, effective and efficient manner, adhering to relevant guidelines and bulletins.
  8. Willing and able to pass DBS checks
