Qualifications

Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant with BSL Experience

Location: Liverpool, L28

Position: 1:1 Support for Deaf Student

Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child's educational journey? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) experience to join our vibrant school community.

About the Role: You will work closely on a 1:1 basis with a deaf child, providing essential support to help them thrive both academically and socially. By utilising your BSL skills, you will bridge communication gaps, foster confidence, and ensure inclusivity within the learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver tailored support in line with the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  2. Facilitate effective communication using BSL, acting as a key link between the student, peers, and staff.
  3. Assist in preparing and adapting learning materials as needed.
  4. Encourage the child's independence and engagement in both classroom activities and social interactions.
  5. Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor progress and address any challenges.
About You:

We would love to hear from you if you:

  1. Hold experience or qualifications in British Sign Language (minimum BSL Level 2 preferred).
  2. Have a background in working with children with hearing impairments or SEN.
  3. Are patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting inclusivity in education.
  4. Possess strong communication and teamwork skills.
  5. Have relevant experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within an educational setting.
