Job Description: Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist

Nuffield Health St Barts | Cancer Services | Permanent | Full Time

Salary: based on experience. 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

As a Breast Cancer CNS, you will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that patients with breast cancer receive the highest standard of evidence-based care and support from the time of diagnosis and throughout the cancer pathway.

About us

Nuffield Health Barts Hospital is the City of London's only independent hospital, situated next to St Bartholomew's NHS hospital. This is our flagship center for cardiac services and will also provide a full range of surgical and medical services, including orthopaedics, oncology, general surgery, gynecology and urology services. Our hospital consists of 55 beds, including 7 Specialist intensive care beds, four advanced digital operating theatres, and a full diagnostic imaging suite including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and general X-ray.

Job responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual to join our Cancer team as a Breast Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS). You will work autonomously with an extended and advanced scope of practice, providing clinical leadership and specialist knowledge and skills that enable the delivery of the highest quality, patient-centered care. You will manage your own clinical caseload, taking a holistic approach towards care management and delivery, solving complex care dilemmas with innovative solutions, and leading and developing the service in line with your specialist knowledge and expertise.

Who we are looking for:

Educational Qualifications - Essential:

  • Registered clinical practitioner with the appropriate governing body.
  • A degree / equivalent qualification or proven post-registration/post-qualification experience in own specialist area.
  • Advanced Communication course.

Educational Qualifications - Desirable:

  • Postgraduate/post-registration training, qualifications and accreditations as appropriate to the specialism.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Experience, Knowledge & Expertise:

  • Recognised advanced practice.
  • Specialist, senior level, post-registration experience.
  • Demonstrable specialist experience as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Leadership/management experience.
  • Compassionate, empathetic and able to showcase excellent patient care.
