Job description

Gatwick Ground Services (GGS) provide airport ground operations at London Gatwick and London City Airports. As a wholly owned British Airways subsidiary, we take great pride in delivering the same impeccable customer service and fully comprehensive training. We are proud to deliver the highest standard of ground handling to British Airways and our other airline partners.

Gatwick Ground Services was established in 2016, to support the ramp operations of British Airways at Gatwick. Following its success, the company branched into Aircraft Cleaning in 2018. In 2020, Passenger Services formed the newest department within the GGS business to provide an all-round ground handling option.

Our operations across two stations support British Airways, Air India, Iberia Express, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Vueling Airlines, providing a complete ground handling solution.

The role:

Bowser Driver - Water & Waste

To provide our customer airlines with efficient professional Toilet & Water services as per their specifications, including water purification testing and disposal of waste at dedicated toilet disposal points. Health and safety policies, Airport policies, ramp awareness, and operational excellence will also play a key part in this role. In addition, you will be expected to project a smart and able attitude to our customer airlines through thorough work practices and excellent customer service.

The post holder will require an excellent level of communication skills both written and verbal at all levels.

The current shift pattern for this position is 4 on 4 off with the shift time 0600-1800.

What you'll do:
  1. Drive in a delegated 2-person team from aircraft to aircraft.
  2. Carry out delegated toilet & water servicing tasks to a high standard using approved water purification solutions.
  3. Preparation of vehicles prior, during, and after carrying out services.
  4. Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles inside and out, ensuring we are perceived as the best and most efficient cleaning company at LGW.
  5. Report any visible TSU/WSU vehicle faults to your Quality Controller.
  6. Report any health and safety matters that give you concern to your Duty Manager.
  7. Be responsible for personal Health & Safety in accordance with the Company's policy and procedure.
  8. Make recommendations and contribute to the development of the Company's business objectives.
  9. Perform any other duties at the discretion of the relevant senior manager which may be necessary from time to time, in order to meet operational requirements.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a full airside pass including a satisfactory criminal record check.
  • Full UK clean driving license as well as the ability to pass the airside driving tests.
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proven experience gained in either Aviation, Ground Handling, or a similar industry.
  • Good working knowledge of Aviation Operations.
  • Ideally, 2 years of supervisory experience.

  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment and manage workload to deliver to tight deadlines.

What we offer:

Salary £27,061.20 (£13.88ph) plus £2,280.00 additional annual shift pay.

Overtime paid at time and a half during the week, and double time at weekends and Bank Holidays.
