Role Overview
We're seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our remote team, working closely with one of our directors. This role offers flexibility and autonomy for the right candidate, with opportunities to contribute to improving our processes and taking on additional responsibilities based on your interests and career goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing electronic receipts and purchase invoices
- Bank reconciliation, including Stripe and PayPal
- Reviewing and entering monthly accruals and prepayments, and other necessary journals
- Instructing supplier payments on behalf of clients
- Bookkeeping up to trial balance
- Communicating with clients by email
Additional Opportunities
- Preparing VAT returns
- Preparing self assessments for review
- Processing payroll for clients
- Contributing to process improvements

The Ideal Candidate
- Is self-motivated and proactive
- Enjoys an environment where change is welcomed
- Can explain accounting concepts clearly to clients who do not have a financial background
- Has attention to detail while working across multiple client accounts
- Is comfortable asking questions and seeking help when needed
Essential Skills/Experience
- Experience using Xero
- Practical experience of bookkeeping
- Good written communication skills
Desirable Skills/Experience
- AAT level 3 qualified, or equivalent
- Practice experience, or experience of working across a variety of clients
- Interest in learning new software and systems
